Group Classes Term 1 -2023
During 2022, Chess Academy had experienced a record number of enrolments each term. As a result, in 2023 we have made further changes to our lesson structures and course offerings, to ensure that students continue to receive maximum benefit.
To make it more convenient for parents, we have also increased the number of classes to offer more time options to help avoid clashes with student’s other activities.
In 2023, we will continue to offer online or in-person classes as follows:
- Individual lessons (single student lessons)
- Small group classes (2 to 4 students per group)
- Community group classes (8 to 16 students per group)
- Online group classes (8 to 16 students per group)
- (Also available : Self-paced online certificate courses for individuals)
Details
Lessons : Eight (8) lessons per term
Frequency : One (1) lesson per week.
Lesson Duration : Allow 50 to 60 minutes
Lessons Format : Review, lesson, interaction, game, weekly assignment on included online lesson platform.
Dates : Term 1 classes will commence from week starting Monday 6th Feb. 2023
In-person class locations for Term 1 currently include:
Featherbrook Community Centre
33- 35 Windorah Drive. – Point Cook
Fridays (classes starting from 5pm through to 7.30pm, for levels 1 to 4)
and
Tarneit Community Learning Centre
150 Sunset Views Blvd. Tarneit
Thursdays (classes starting from 5pm through to 7.30pm, for levels 1 to 4 )
Term fee for in-person group classes at a community centre is : $150* (Members only)
Online Class times include:
Wednesdays : Levels 1 to 3 @ 5pm, 5:40pm, 6:20pm
Thursdays : Level 5+ @ 7pm
Fridays : Levels 2 to 4 @ 5pm, 5:40pm, 6:20pm.
Term fee for online group classes is : $130* (Members only)
*All enrolments include free access to online learning platform for weekly assignments (valued at $30 per term) and free entry to chess club on Thursdays and Fridays from 5pm to 8pm.

How to enrol for Term 1 group classes.
Step 1 : Register as a Member of Chess Academy
(this need only be done once per year)
From 2023 students will be required to register as a member of Chess Academy before enrolling for term classes. The benefits of membership are numerous ,and the fee is easily recoverable through the many discounts members will enjoy from reduced lesson fees and tournament fees etc.

Step 2 : Submit pre-enrolment assessment request
(this need only be done once per year)
In order to ensure students are placed in the most beneficial group suitable for their current level, students will need to complete a brief (online) assessment quiz, prior to enrolment. The result of the quiz will determine which group class a student should enrol in.
